Love that is conditional is the love of the EGO.
The EGO can only think in terms of itself: only for me, more for me. For free. Without giving. Only receiving.
Because it is afraid.
Stuck in the past and terrified of the future.
So it searches for excuses.
(The child is small, everything is expensive now, cigarettes, beer, the little pony right now, or “why should I be the one to say or show it”… )
But change always happens in the present.
Here and now.
